Can you imagine walking in your home after a long day at work and seeing a squirrel sitting on your couch? Aero Home Services has had their fair share of maintenance calls in the last several years, however for one of our customers, a squirrel running loose in their home is something we had to see to believe.
The Goldston Family in Cypress did in fact have a squirrel in their newly purchased home that basically ran amuck throughout their home while they were gone.
If you have a squirrel in your home, it’s important to take immediate action to prevent damage to your property and potential harm to yourself or the squirrel. Here are some steps you can take:
- Stay calm and avoid making sudden movements or loud noises that might startle the squirrel.
- Close off the room or area where the little fella is located, to prevent it from accessing other parts of your home.
- Open a window or door leading outside, if possible, to provide an escape route for the squirrel.
- If the squirrel is not able to find its way out on its own, you can try using a humane live trap to capture it. You can then release the squirrel outside, away from your home.
- If the squirrel is injured or appears sick, you should contact a wildlife rehabilitator or animal control agency for assistance.
- Once the squirrel has been safely removed, you should inspect your home for any points of entry and seal them off to prevent future squirrel infestations.
